Take Two

The last time we were supposed to go to the Samford versus Furman game at the Bulldog's stadium, I caught an insanely rough stomach virus just in time to know not to even try to get on the road.  Last weekend, we made the trip with no mishaps, and we also got to spend some time with a family member who wasn't around two football seasons ago.  We also got to watch not one, but two soccer games since Anna joined her brother in soccer stardom.

Anna got a goal at her early AM game on Saturday!  Woo Hoo!
Evan got a save (I think it's called) at his mid-morning match!  Woo Hoo!
Ryleigh observed and offered some light hearted commentary.  (Seriously, she's the easiest going nearly one year old ever!)
And between the two soccer games, we ate the second breakfast of champions... chocolate bars, cupcakes, cakes, cinnamon buns... you get the idea.
Second breakfast (and the sugar) brought out Evan's game face.
And watching the games, the proud parents, and Henry's joy when "practicing" with Evan made us actually look forward to the same for Henry one day.
I imagine it won't be much longer for this one, either.
Oh, and speaking of games, Samford got beat by Furman.

Basketball is in the air... or is it vice versa?

Yes, we are loving taking Henry to football games and watching them on TV with the boy, but Cory's son also has a true love and talent...
for the game of basketball.  In fact, he wants the game to go just so and the ball to be exactly right.
Basketball starts Tuesday, and two people in this family are pumped!

Mema

My Mema and Henry's "Good" Mema passed away a few weeks ago, and I came across these photos that I wanted share.
I'm thankful that Henry and Mema shared this planet for two years and eight months.

Quickies

Perhaps you noticed that I took a blogging hiatus?  Here's a few quickies with no related photos... more to come.  Be patient.  Seriously, be patient.  We are short of patience in this household lately.
  • Henry took his pants off on Friday morning before we got to school.  In the car seat.  Strapped in.  Because he wanted me, not Daddy, to put on his pants.
  • We went to Birmingham last weekend, and on the way to the "state" of Alabama, Henry insisted that we tell him what "stadium" we were in.  "Are we in Georgia stadium?"  "Are we still in Georgia stadium?"
  • Once at Evan and Anna's house, Henry played the game he longed to play for weeks, "Memory."  He took one turn and made a match.  It was his last turn--quit while he was ahead.
  • There's a  Laurie Berkner song called, "We are the Dinosaurs, " and H loves it.  The dinosaurs march and "make the earth flat."  Henry, however, asserts that the lyrics are, "We make the egg beaters flat."  I have no idea.
  • Tonight, at bedtime, the boy got his head stuck between the door and door frame of his room because he couldn't manage to stay in his bed long enough for me to come check on him.
Now, here's the question.  How is it that impatience equals lots and lots of dawdling, too?

Exercise

If I didn't already know that I needed to get back into the swing of exercising, I found out tonight that Henry is an apt ab cruncher, jumpin' jacker, and push upper.  It's impressive stuff.  I'll need to post a video soon--an exercise video.

Today

Today marks the 20th anniversary of the first time I ever saw a newborn--a shockingly small but somehow smack-me-in-the-face important and adorable being snuggled against my Mama's neck.  Happy Birthday, Elizabeth.  We love you and can't see you soon enough.

Mash Up

Last year's football season brought out Henry's fanaticism, and the site of either a Furman or Gamecocks logo elicited an enthusiastic, "Go Cocks!  Furman Football!  Yea!!!!"

This year, we are trying to be a little more specific with him.  Here's what we're getting:
  • He says "Game!"  and we say "Cocks!"
  • We say "Game!" and he says "FU One Time!"
  • U-S-C!  Go Furman!
And my personal favorite...
  • M-O-U-S-C!  Gooooo Cocks!
