Sushi, Finally!

I haven't had a sushi dinner since we figured out that I was pregnant with Totch, so tonight was a very special kick off to my 31st birthday weekend of celebration.  Henry also loved the sushi and is a apparently a big fan of squid.  I think it runs in the family?  (Evan?  Anna?)

Thank you, Elizabeth!

Henry's aunt Elizabeth was originally in line to be his summer nanny, but circumstances didn't allow, so now she's spending a summer working at Oysters on the West End and Sports Authority  while acting as Henry's standing sitter.  (Pun intended.)  

Today was a teacher work day at the YWCA, so Henry got to spend an entire day hanging out with Elizabeth, and Elizabeth got to witness our little miracle go down without a peep for his afternoon nap.  It seems that complete and utter exhaustion over the last long weekend at the beach led to a non-nap-protesting Henry.  It continues to amaze us.  

Thanks, Elizabeth, for your help.  We know you love Henry and that he loves being around you. What a nice surprise to find the dishwasher unloaded, too!

Don't go!

Actually, Hilary and Erik are moving to Pennsylvania for all the right reasons, and we're happy it's all working out so well for them.  Henry and Hilary had a good time hanging out this evening, and Henry gave her a big ol' farewell hug goodbye.  They didn't hang out for a while (which is crazy how time flies), but they picked up right where they left off, only Henry could run around this time.

Best wishes for a smooth transition to a far off state, Hilary!

We are so strict

Henry got really, really quiet this afternoon, and I found him in our bedroom where he was standing in a pile of face tissue pulled from the tissue box in Daddy's bedside table.  I asked him to stop but couldn't resist the camera sitting on our dresser.  I took a photo then realized that he was still emptying the tissues but was wiping each one across his nose before throwing it on the floor.  This child is clearly being raised in a home where allergies abound!  Learned behavior amazes me.  I hope we are setting some fairly good examples for our boy!  Of course, taking pictures rather than implementing some sort of discipline is probably not the best approach...

Our camera gets used a lot and can get dirty, but thankfully, Henry brushed it with his toothbrush.  Good as new!

Daddy's home

It's possible that Kingstree may never be our primary destination again, but we loved getting a chance to hang out at 216 Singleton Avenue for a while on our way back home on Monday.  Henry had a chance to explore the home in which his Daddy mostly grew up, and he liked having a large yard and a large floor to roam.

We picked up some Henry sized furniture to bring home with us.  The rocking chair and the table and chair set are really nice, and Henry appreciates having them.  We are also grateful for the pieces for their sentimental value and can't wait to watch Henry get lots of use out of them.

Surfside Weekend of Fun

Henry got to hang out at Surfside beach this weekend while we visited Cory's family for a long and fun weekend.  

He was a little hesitant about the cold little waves that threatened his balance, but he managed to keep his cool while quietly running from them as he told them, "No, No, No... "  So cute!

Henry found his niche in collecting shells, digging sand, playing football, and getting Nana to dig when he got too tired to do it himself.  (She also hand fed him grapes.)  

Cory and I had a pleasant Saturday evening and Monday afternoon out, and we surely appreciate our babysitters. We all had a really fun weekend and cannot wait to head back some more times this summer.  Henry will eventually conquer the waves--hopefully less chilly waves.

In addition, Henry enjoyed destroying Kayce's phone with his extra acidic teething drool.   We will avoid phone destruction next time. 

Again?

Henry's sick again with a fever.  It's another virus in the exciting world of illnesses garnered during the month of May!  We are hoping the fever breaks and we can enjoy a long weekend of wellness.

Wonderful Weekends

Cory had a bachelor weekend in Ulmer, SC, so Henry and I packed our weekend with stuff to do so that we wouldn't spend too much time pining for our favorite man. Rain didn't stop us from enjoying some time outdoors, including another trip to Music in the Woods with some friends. Henry had a fabulous time with his friend Helen's bubbles and especially running towards a super muddy ditch over and over and over again! Chasing Henry to the tune of the music coming from the nearby stage was a fun experience for me and, judging by Henry's joyful little shrieks, I would say it was fun for him, too.

My friend Sarah took some photos of Henry with her really nice camera. I am so thankful since I want one like hers AND I am always so disappointed with the quality of my own photos. I think hers really captured more of Henry's fun cuteness.

Henry also got some more eyeglass entertainment in (see below post) on Sunday afternoon and entertained Elizabeth, her guest, and his Grandjane and Grandjoe with lots of loud, happy, funny, silly running around.

We loved having Daddy back and had a lot of fun with some friends at our Mellow Mushroom on Sunday. That place can drive me nuts with all the kids in there, and, well, this time, we contributed to the nuttiness. Somehow, being a part of the problem made it more fun!

It's really amusing to watch Henry interact with his playmates now. Here's Henry with some of his friends checking out the downpour that prevented us from going to the afternoon Drive game. Henry kept singing "Rain, Rain... " on the way to dinner. He isn't versed in the rest of the words to the song, so we heard "rain, rain" a lot. We'll make it back out for a dry baseball game soon, I'm sure. We are currently making our way through the work week and cannot wait to head to Surfside this weekend to see the Hughes family!

Yea for weekends!

The biggest cheer is for having Daddy home! I love having my fellas here with me.

Ham

I use it and hear it occasionally from people who I think hear me use it to describe Henry.  Today, though, a pediatrician other than Dr. Song offered her expert opinion that she thinks Henry might turn out to be a "ham" if he isn't already one.  

Well, he's already one.  Henry's greatest joy is making us laugh, and we love it.  

Belly?

We think it's funny for Henry to suddenly start pointing out ours and his various parts, "nose," "mow" (mouth), "eye," "eeear," "chee" (chin or cheek). The most entertaining, though, is his dramatic belly pats. He cracks me up, and I now find it hard to dress him in his cute one piece outfits since he can't lift the shirt to pat his tummy.  

A Mother's Day

Cory took over the rest of the disinfecting duties of the evening so that I can continue to study for my big test tomorrow, but I wanted to do one quick Mother's Day post.  

It was a very good day.  Henry is so fun at this age, and he was charming, chatty, and chipper through almost the entire day.  However, we ended the day on a pretty gross note, which is why Cory is using a lot of elbow grease and Lysol right now.  

Let me back up a bit to say that a terrible stomach virus struck Henry on our way home from daycare on Friday afternoon, and I wanted to throw out his carseat as a result.  However, we cleaned and salvaged the carseat, and Henry seemed to be doing quite well by Saturday evening.  We thought all was clear today, but I stayed home from church with Henry just in case.  It's a good thing, too.  The virus is NOT gone.  

Happy Mother's Day to all!  Some days aren't pretty, but it's still the best job out there.  Also, I couldn't do it without Cory.  I love him so much!

Big, Blue Eyes

Lately, people have been taking extra notice of Henry's eyes, and I am thinking that his ever blonding hair is highlighting his big blues.

Milestonez

Henry has a new ear infection, and this time, he was prescribed Zithromax. He took a teaspoon last night and then will take half a teaspoon for the next four days. I am sad that Henry has his third ear infection, but at the same time, I have that proud/ nostalgic feeling that I get when Henry hits a milestone that signifies his progress. His first Z-Pak! Welcome, Henry, to the amazing world of better medicine. You will never look back.

The Farrys are here!

We just love it when the cousins get to hang out, and they really seemed to enjoy one another today. 

 Stacy is carrying the fourth one of the bunch, and we cannot wait to meet little Chippy in a few months!  Obviously, Chippy is already a cutie.
