Safer Snuggles

This morning started out with snuggles, but no one toppled out of bed.
I am a lucky Mama.

Half Smile

I only do OK catching Elgin's smiles, and I do a little less OK with aiming my phone's camera.
Closer...
Here we go...

Knot Cool

Last Friday early morning, I was just hanging out with Elgin in his room when I heard Henry and Daddy snuggling/ rough housing in our bed then a loud thud which clearly came from Henry taking a tumble.  The first thing he did was cry (good) then say, "I hit the pillow!"  If you fall on a pillow, it shouldn't be bad, huh?

I took my time fastening Elgin's diaper then walked into our room where Daddy was consoling Henry and just lifting his bangs to check where he hit.  Here's what he found:
Since he immediately cried, didn't walk strange, throw up, or exhibit any other concussion symptoms, we had some peace of mind.  Hematoma has a purpose, and one is to protect what's underneath.

We offered H a bag of frozen corn kernels to help with the swelling, but he cried, "Corn will make it worse!"  So, we made an ice bag with ziploc and a burp cloth.
The knot hurt, but it did warrant him an extra lazy day at home.
Thankfully, the swelling is finally gone after 8 days.  Dr. Song took a look at the bump on Thursday and assured me that it was still swollen only because of the coagulated blood.  Now, I didn't take H for a doctor visit even though he has a lingering hematoma and a fever on Wednesday.  He was doing quite well.  Instead, we were there for poor little Elgin who already has his first cold.

Despite diligent handwashing and avoiding strange people, our littlest boy has his first cold, contracted at just six weeks.  His main symptom is a wet cough that chips away at my heart every time I hear it.  We are grateful that his cough remains wet and not dry and tight.

Mucus is gross!
Best of all, he has no fever.  And, despite the crud in his nose and the hacking cough, we still have a happy, albeit slightly more clingy (no complaints here!), baby boy.

Lunch break

Mondays (except for tomorrow when Daddy and I go to get some good ol' immunizations) are still hooky days.  Daddy comes home to eat lunch with us.  I would say that he has a very good lunch break on Mondays.
Yes, H is usually still in PJ's/ underwear at lunch time when home with me.  Go getter, I am not.

Making light

Yesterday, Henry was playing a Halloween costume game on my computer and dressed one of the characters with a superhero mask, vampire cape, pirate hook, and werewolf hair.  He was cracking himself up the whole time.

When Cory came home from a meeting last night, he announced that he found a dollar on our bedroom floor.  Later, when H was supposed to be asleep in bed, he came out of his room and said that he was a little scared and, "can I have the dollar off of the floor?"

He was sick today, which lead to Cory getting him from school early.  He told Cory, "Everything hurts.  Even the front of me."  It's sad that he was sick, but it's hard to not laugh sometimes.

One Month Stats

Somehow, Elgin had his one month well visit last Tuesday, and I didn't update the blog to reflect the stats!

Elgin weighed in at 10 pounds and 15 ounces, just shy of a whole 11 pounds.  He's in the 73rd percentile for his weight, which didn't surprise me at all.  He's an enthusiastic eater.  We won't be buying anymore size one diapers!

His height proved my suspicion that he was too long for a few of his onesies.  He measured at 58.42 centimeters and in the 97th percentile for length.  My guess is that he will have a similar body type to his brother, leading to future outfitting troubles.

His perfect little head circumference is 38 centimeters, putting him in the 79th percentile for head size.  Dr. Song was impressed with his neck strength and his ability to hold his head proudly.  Or, at least we observed his uplifted head with great pride.

He has the neck strength of a two month old.

He was also diagnosed as so cute.

The hep B booster made us cry.  Thank you, Cory, for being the holder during the shot, letting me be the swooper.  I thought I could be tougher the second baby around, but I was wrong.

Ready to go see the doc...
